How It Works

Self-custody is not something we do for you.
It is something we teach you to operate.

Arise works beside you while you build, test, use and maintain your own Bitcoin custody process. From your first hardware wallet through to significant transactions, recovery planning and long-term family readiness, you remain the person operating it.

Your Bitcoin.
Your hands on the controls.

One-to-one guidance  •  Remote or in person where practical  •  No key access  •  Bitcoin only

What are we actually building together?

Not a collection of gadgets. A Bitcoin custody process you can actually operate.

01
DIGITAL READINESS

Before we touch the wallet, make sure the environment is ready.

Bitcoin self-custody depends on more than a signing device. The computers, accounts, software and everyday digital practices surrounding the wallet matter too.

A strong wallet running inside a weak digital operating environment is still an incomplete process.

  • ■appropriate exchange and withdrawal readiness
  • ■computer and device readiness
  • ■Bitcoin software from the correct sources
  • ■software and firmware update practices
  • ■password-manager and account-security practices where relevant
  • ■phishing and impersonation awareness
  • ■secure handling of non-secret custody documentation
02
BUILD

Build the custody system around the person, not the product catalogue.

We help determine what hardware, wallet software, backup architecture and operating process actually fit your circumstances.

More hardware is not automatically more security.

Arise receives no hardware or software commissions.

  • ■hardware or signing-device selection
  • ■client purchases hardware directly
  • ■Sparrow and open-source Bitcoin software where appropriate
  • ■SeedSigner and other Bitcoin-only signing tools where appropriate
  • ■commercial hardware where simplicity is appropriate
  • ■seed and passphrase considerations
  • ■single-signature by default where appropriate
  • ■additional complexity only when it solves a real problem
03
TRANSACT

The moment you move Bitcoin should not be the moment you discover you do not understand your wallet.

We can be there while you transact.

Arise can provide scheduled supervisory support while you perform Bitcoin transactions, from small test withdrawals through to materially significant transfers.

You perform every action. Arise supervises the process.

YOU
  • ■decide whether to transact
  • ■select the amount
  • ■select and verify the receiving address
  • ■enter the transaction
  • ■check the fee
  • ■sign
  • ■broadcast
  • ■confirm the result
ARISE
  • ■walk through the procedure with you
  • ■help you slow the process down
  • ■prompt appropriate verification steps
  • ■explain what the wallet or signing device is showing
  • ■help identify procedural mistakes before proceeding
  • ■help you follow the operating procedure you have built

Small transaction or large transaction, the process should be deliberate, verified and understood.

For many clients, having an experienced person beside them during an important transaction is part of building real operating confidence.

04
PROVE IT

Receiving Bitcoin proves almost nothing.
Recovery proves whether the process actually works.

A wallet can receive Bitcoin perfectly while the recovery plan behind it is incomplete, misunderstood or impossible for anyone else to follow.

BACK UP

Understand exactly what each backup restores and what information must remain separate.

TEST

Rehearse the recovery process carefully before relying on it.

RECOVER

Know how to rebuild the wallet and operating environment if hardware is lost, damaged or replaced.

A seed phrase is not a recovery plan by itself.

05
DOCUMENT IT

Memory is not a custody system.

The custody process should make sense months or years later, not only while it is fresh in your head.

The documentation explains the process without storing the secrets inside it.

Note: Seed words, private keys, passphrases, PINs or passwords never appear in Arise documentation.

  • ■wallet purpose and architecture
  • ■hardware and software used
  • ■high-level backup locations
  • ■recovery procedure
  • ■transaction procedure
  • ■exchange withdrawal procedure
  • ■maintenance notes
  • ■entity or SMSF operational references where relevant
  • ■information another trusted person may need
06
KEEP IT CURRENT

Self-custody is not set-and-forget.
The landscape keeps moving.

Wallet software changes. Firmware changes. Computers change. Security practices improve. Your holdings, family and circumstances change.

REVIEW

A sound custody process should be reviewed over time so that the system you understood two years ago does not quietly become a system you no longer understand.

Direct ownership requires continuing attention.

Arise can support future reviews, maintenance sessions and transaction supervision when required. We do not monitor wallets, and there is no ongoing subscription.

  • ■software and firmware review
  • ■backup-location review
  • ■recovery-procedure review
  • ■transaction procedure review
  • ■documentation updates
  • ■custody architecture review
  • ■changing personal, family or entity requirements
BEYOND YOU

Eventually, your custody process may need to work without you.

A will cannot recover a wallet.

Legal and estate documents can establish rights and intentions. But the Bitcoin still needs an operational recovery path.

=
PRACTICAL INHERITANCE READINESS

Where required, Arise helps make the technical custody process understandable across family members, trusted people, entities, incapacity and inheritance scenarios.

The plan must work when you are no longer standing there explaining it.

Arise does not prepare wills, determine beneficiaries or provide legal, tax, SMSF, accounting, audit or estate-planning advice. We work on the Bitcoin custody operating layer so it can support the legal plan developed with the relevant professionals.

  • ■trusted-person operating documentation
  • ■appropriate backup architecture
  • ■separation of secret and non-secret information
  • ■recovery instructions
  • ■personal / entity / SMSF operational separation where relevant
  • ■tested recovery processes
Delivery Modes

This is hands-on, one-to-one work.

REMOTE

Work together from wherever you are.

Most sessions can be conducted remotely using screen sharing while the client remains in control of devices and wallets.

IN PERSON

Sometimes being in the same room makes sense.

Where practical and economical, Arise can arrange in-person work with clients.

SUPERVISED

Support when you are actually using the system.

Scheduled sessions can include wallet operation, recovery exercises, software maintenance and supervised transaction workflows.

We explain.You operate.We check.You verify.

Guidance without surrendering control.

We never need your seed phrase, private keys or passphrase to do our job.

The Outcome

A hardware wallet is a product.
Self-custody is a capability.

UNDERSTAND
OPERATE
TRANSACT
RECOVER
MAINTAIN
HAND OVER

The objective is not simply to own a signing device or know where a seed phrase is stored. It is to understand the complete custody process well enough to use it deliberately, recover it under pressure, maintain it as circumstances change and make it workable beyond yourself where required.

That is what Arise helps you build.

Before paid implementation begins, you know the professional fee, likely hardware requirements and expected time commitment. Hardware is purchased directly from suppliers and Arise receives no product commission.

Start Where You Are

You do not need to have the custody problem solved before speaking with us.

Maybe your Bitcoin is still on an exchange. Maybe you already have hardware but do not fully trust your process. Maybe you are preparing for a significant transaction. Maybe your family would not know what to do without you. Start with the situation you actually have.
